Why do we need EMOTIONAL FIRST AID ?

Physical injuries, wounds and scars can be extremely painful, but they are visible, and as such are physically treatable.

Mental and emotional wounds and scars can be far worse, because they are not always obvious. Not being visible they are not treated and so can festet until they become debilitating.

It is only when emotional distress becomes a debilitating condition that it may be diagnosed as being a mental health condition. The purpose of the emotional first aid kit is to suggest methods of dealing with emotional distress before it becomes debilitating.

In the life of every family there are good times and their are bad times. Times of joy and times of grief. When we (or those we love) experience happiness we enjoy life and everything in life is good.

When we are in ill health the family gather around and nurse us back to health. When we are physically injured we reach for the First Aid Box.

But what happens when we or those we love suffer an emotional crisis.

There is nothing in a conventional First Aid Box to treat such an injury.

What is  required is some form of Emotional First Aid Box.

That is the objective of this site. To suggest a number of simple methods of dealing with emotional distress before it can result in a breakdown or a suicidal crisis.

The first thing to bear in mind is that suicide is preventable. No matter how frightening the situation may seem, it truly can be overcome.
