What Triggers Suicide?

 

LOSS often triggers suicide!

  • LOSS of important (key) relationships (Death, Separation, Divorce etc)
  • LOSS of personal health, personal abilities and or other everyday functions
  • LOSS of willingness or ability to withstand further emotional and physical pain. Including depression.
  • LOSS of home. Family. Family unity, support, identity. Employment. Status. Property. Money. Personal Security
  • LOSS of face. Reputation. Self-esteem. Good name. Respect.
  • LOSS of Hope

When we (as human beings) are faced with a world-shattering loss some of us want to punish others. Some of us want to punish ourselves and some of us want to die.

WARNING SIGNS

  • LOSS of interest in personal appearance
  • LOSS of willingness to communicate
  • LOSS or Diminished sexual appetite through to sexual promiscuity or LOSS of sexual reserve.
  • LOSS of previous eating pattern.
  • LOSS of interest in prior relationships
  • LOSS of interest in previously loved activities
  • LOSS of clear mindedness and/or ability to concentrate
  • LOSS of previous sleep pattern.

 

  • SYMPTOM Making a will
  • SYMPTOM Putting affairs into order
  • SYMPTOM Giving away prized possessions.
  • SYMPTOM Abrupt changes in personality
  • SYMPTOM Abuse of alcohol and/or drugs
  • SYMPTOM Rebelliousness - reckless behaviour
  • SYMPTOM Accident prone as a consequence of carelessness
  • SYMPTOM Extreme or extended boredom
  • SYMPTOM Violent warning signs
  • SYMPTOM Inappropriately saying goodbye
  • SYMPTOM Preoccupation with suicide and/or death 
  • PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS Previous suicide attempts
  • PREVIOUS SYMPTOMS Self inflicted injuries
